United States Botanic Garden “One Planet – Ours!” Exhibition: May 24 – October 13

From May 24 – October 13, 2008 the United States Botanic Garden will display 40 Cool Globes as the featured exhibit in its annual “One Planet – Ours!” exhibition.

In addition, globes designed by schoolchildren from Sidwell Friends School and artists with Earth Day Network will be on display.

“One Planet – Ours! Sustainability for the 22nd Century” exhibition focuses on sustainability - not only how it applies to gardens and the landscape, but also how each of us and our communities can live for tomorrow, as well as for today. It will feature garden displays on the Conservatory Terrace and interpretive and sculptural displays in the National Garden and Bartholdi Park. “One Planet – Ours!” will also showcase the work of government agencies, non-governmental organizations and individuals who are leading efforts toward sustainable lifestyles.

Admission

Admission to all public areas of the United States Botanic Garden is free and open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. everyday, including weekends and holidays.

Parking/Transportation

A limited number of metered parking spaces are available within a few blocks of the United States Botanic Garden. The use of public transportation is encouraged. Take Metrorail Blue or Orange line to Federal Center SW or Capitol South stations, or Metro bus #30, 32, 34, 35 or 36 to Independence Avenue and First Street, SW.

Cool Globes Exhibit at the Kennedy Center


Miniature Cool Globes designed and/or autographed by a diverse group of people speaking out to promote solutions to global warming, including actors, musicians, astronauts, artists, elected officials, athletes and others, will be on display at the Kennedy Center during the summer of 2008.

Parking/Transportation

The Kennedy Center is located on the banks of the Potomac River in Washington, D.C., at the intersection of New Hampshire Avenue, NW, and Rock Creek Parkway.

The closest Metrorail stop to the Kennedy Center is the Foggy Bottom/George Washington University station at 23rd and I streets. From there it is a short walk via New Hampshire Avenue or take the free Kennedy Center Shuttle (signs are toward the left as you exit the Metrorail escalator). The shuttle departs every 15 minutes from 9:45 a.m. to midnight Monday-Friday; 10 a.m. to midnight Saturdays; noon to midnight Sundays; and 4 p.m. to midnight on Federal holidays.
