Mini-Globes

This summer from June 11 – September 3, at the Kennedy Center, "Cool Globes: Hot Ideas for a Cooler Planet."

Sixty miniature Cool Globes will be on display in the Kennedy Center's Hall of Nations. Thirty of these globes, titled "Voices," highlight prominent individuals who have lent their voice to the project and are committed to fight climate change. The remaining thirty globes are titled "Solutions" and highlight simple ideas people can implement in their daily lives to join the fight against global warming.

Some of the 11-inch in diameter mini-globes were designed by the same artists who created and are similar versions of the full size globes. Others reflect the personalities of and global warming solutions favored by celebrities, such as musicians Sheryl Crow and REM; actors Tobey Maguire, Chris O'Donnell and Adam Sandler; astronaut Jim Lovell; basketball player Magic Johnson; and elected officials, including Vice President Al Gore and U.S. Senators and presidential candidates Hillary Clinton (D-NY), John McCain (R-AZ) and Barack Obama (D-IL). Other prominent individuals who have lent their voices include Thomas Friedman, Wangari Maathai, Robert Redford, Oprah, Bobby Kennedy and Bill Clinton, as well as many other actors, musicians, artists, elected officials and athletes.
